Happy Trails: A Full Week and an Even Fuller Heart at My Learning Farm
My, what a FULL week here at My Learning Farm! The kind that makes you smile and cry at the same time. Between goodbyes, reading celebrations, a trip to the fair through the pages of Charlotte’s Web, and our last farm class of the fall, my heart is holding a little bit of everything.

This week, two students moseyed on out the farm gates and into their next adventures as confident, bright, capable learners. After working alongside them, cheering them through challenges, and sharing so much life together, saying goodbye is hard—and GREAT—all at once.
I’m so proud of how far they’ve come. That is exactly what I hope for: students who leave knowing they have skills they can use and reasons to believe in themselves. But goodness, I will miss our time together! When you’ve shared the sticky lessons, funny conversations, determined efforts, and wonderful breakthroughs, those goodbyes come with a few tears.

We also celebrated two students leveling up in reading! Taking time to remember their journeys together made those milestones even sweeter. A completed level holds so much more than finished lessons. It holds the words that once felt impossible, the practice that paid off, and the moment a student realizes, “I can do this!”

I love getting to share in that progress. Supporting students through the harder parts makes celebrating their accomplishments such a gift. I cannot wait to see what awaits them in their next reading adventures.
Meanwhile, My Learning Farm READS! headed to the fair right alongside Wilbur, Templeton, and Charlotte! Our Charlotte’s Web fun brought the story to life as we made connections, laughed, worked on writing, and enjoyed literature together. There is something so special about sharing a book and watching its world become part of our own.

And to top it all off—the last farm class of the fall! Another season of learning, discovery, animals, and friendship drawing to a close. How does it always go so quickly?
These are the weeks that remind me how much I love this life. The teaching, the animals, the curious questions, the laughter, and the privilege of cheering children on as they grow. My heart feels those goodbyes because our time together matters so much.
There is no other place I would rather be than right here on the farm, sharing life with children and animals and celebrating each next step.
To the families who share their children with me: thank you. To my students, whether you are heading through the gates toward something new or coming back for your next lesson: I am so proud of you.
Happy trails, everyone. What a joy it is to be part of your journey. 💛
