Country Adventures & a Reader Taking Flight-Nothing Better!!!

A little town building, a little trampoline jumping, a whole lot of country fun—and a wonderful reader spreading her wings! Elsie is soaring with her reading, and I could not be prouder.

One of the joys of teaching at My Learning Farm is getting to know the whole child. With Elsie, that means celebrating an imaginative, country-loving girl who enjoys building towns, jumping on the trampoline, and spending time with animals. She is kind and loving, with a beautiful heart and a strong sense of faith and conviction.

From one happy garden gnome and a little bumble bee to the BEST reader out there-Congratulations!!!!!!

And watching her grow into such a confident reader? I literally pinch myself that I get to celebrate these moments.

So Much More Than Reading the Words

Elsie’s progress shows in so many ways: her growing fluency, her confidence, her ability to tackle unfamiliar words, and her skill at breaking longer words into syllables.

Those pieces are coming together beautifully. The word attack strategies and syllabication skills she has practiced are becoming tools she can carry into her reading. It is such a joy to see her using what she knows! There is so much to celebrate in that growth. Each new skill gives her another way to approach a challenging word and keep moving through a story. And alongside those skills, her confidence is taking flight.

A Special Book for an Animal-Loving Girl

To celebrate Elsie and her reading, I gave her one of my favorite books: Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. For this animal lover, it felt like such a fitting gift. Giving a student a book chosen especially for her is one of my favorite things—a way of saying, “I know what you love, and I thought of you.” Now I cannot wait for Elsie to tell me all about it! I look forward to hearing her thoughts, discovering her favorite parts, and sharing the joy of a story together.

The Moments That Make Me Pinch Myself

This is the heart of My Learning Farm. I get to help children build reading skills while getting to know their interests, their personalities, and the things that make them shine. I get to celebrate the practice, the progress, and the growing confidence that reaches beyond a lesson. Some days, I truly pause and think, I get to do this. I get to put a special book into a child’s hands. I get to watch hard work come together. And I get to tell a wonderful girl how proud I am of her.

So today, I am celebrating Elsie: the town builder, trampoline jumper, animal lover, and kindhearted country girl who is soaring with her reading. Keep reaching for the sky, Elsie. You have so much to be proud of!

At My Learning Farm, learning grows—and celebrating the children doing that growing is one of my greatest joys.
