How My Learning Farm Grew
A journey rooted in love, learning, and possibility
My Learning Farm didn’t begin as a business plan. It began as a promise—a parent’s promise.
Like so many families, our journey started with questions… and then answers we weren’t expecting. One by one, our children were diagnosed with learning differences: dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and anxiety. Along with those diagnoses came worry, uncertainty, and a deep desire to do right by our kids.
More than anything, I wanted to truly understand how my children learned. I wanted to support them well. And I wanted them to know—deep in their hearts and without a shred of doubt—that they were capable.
Learning differences run through our family, so perhaps it shouldn’t have been a surprise. My mom, my sister, cousins, my husband—and now both of our children—share this story. Still, knowing it intellectually and living it as a parent are very different things. When it’s your children, you don’t just want answers. You want hope. You want clarity. You want a path forward.
So I started learning. And learning. And learning some more.
I immersed myself in evidence-based instruction, structured literacy, multisensory math, writing support, and individualized intervention. I pursued certifications and spent hundreds of hours in training—not because I set out to build a business, but because I wanted to be the very best support for my own children.
And then something beautiful happened.
With early intervention, the right tools, and individualized support, my children began to soar. Not overnight. Not without struggle. But steadily, confidently, and authentically.
The credit belongs first and foremost to them—their grit, determination, and perseverance. They worked hard. They wanted to succeed. I simply helped put the right tools in their hands, and they ran with them.
Our journey was not linear. We tried public school, homeschool, charter school, half days, and full days. We adjusted. We pivoted. We listened closely to what each child needed in each season. Along the way, we learned that flexibility isn’t a weakness—it’s often the greatest strength.
And we were never alone.
Our children’s success is not because of me alone, and I am always quick to say that. We were surrounded by an incredible community of caring adults who believed in our kids just as fiercely as we did. Dedicated teachers and specialists—Mrs. Fox, Mr. Walgren, Ms. Betsy, Ms. Cassie, Ms. Jen—and beyond the classroom, remarkable 4-H and FFA mentors like Mark, Sabina, Jen, Charlotte, and so many others.
These adults mattered—immensely. They saw our children’s strengths. They created safe places to grow.
They reminded us that learning doesn’t only happen at a desk—it happens through relationships, hands-on experiences, and belonging.
My Learning Farm is built on that foundation of love.
Love for children who learn differently. Love for families navigating uncertainty. And deep respect for the hard, beautiful work it takes to grow.
Everything I offer through My Learning Farm is shaped by our family’s journey: early intervention, evidence-based instruction, individualized support, confidence and connection first—and a deep passion for agriculture.
My children’s stories are not a testament to perfection, but to possibility. They are thriving not because they were “fixed,” but because they were understood, supported, and surrounded by adults who believed in them. That is what I hope every family feels when they come to My Learning Farm: You are not alone. Your child is capable. And with the right tools and the right support, learning truly grows.
Outside of academics, my heart is firmly rooted in agriculture. I volunteer extensively with 4-H and FFA, proudly support youth in agriculture, and am a Placer County Farm Bureau member. I’ve attended farming and agriculture workshops through UC Agriculture & Natural Resources and am a member of CALPACA and the National Pygmy Goat Association.
I love playing in the dirt. You’ll usually find me with a shovel in my hand or surrounded by animals. I grow sunflowers, vegetables, fruits, pumpkins—and I’m always experimenting with something new.
Community matters deeply to me. My Learning Farm proudly supports Miners Ravine 4-H, Gold Country Fair, the Gold Country Junior Livestock Auction, High School Rodeo, the Loomis Community Senior Center, Placer County Farm Bureau, CALPACA, and S.O.W. Ministries—because when we grow together, everyone thrives.
And finally, this is for Ava and Ryker- I love you to the moon and back. 🌙💛
