Growing the Next Generation: Why My Learning Farm Invests in Youth & Agriculture 🌱

At My Learning Farm, I believe some of the most important things we can give young people are opportunities—to learn, to work hard, to discover what they love, to belong to a community, and to become confident in who they are.

That is why My Learning Farm is proud to invest in youth agriculture through organizations and community events like California High School Rodeo Association District 3, the Gold Country Fair, and local youth agricultural activities.

Agriculture Teaches So Much More Than Agriculture 🐴🌾

Working with animals, raising livestock, competing in rodeo, preparing a fair project, growing something, or caring for something that depends on you teaches lessons that simply cannot always be learned from a textbook.

Agriculture teaches responsibility. It teaches patience, perseverance, problem-solving, compassion, and grit. Animals don't care what grade you received on a test or whether school comes easily to you. They require you to show up, pay attention, learn from mistakes, and try again.

And those lessons matter.

I see the same thing every day at My Learning Farm. A child who may struggle in a traditional academic environment can absolutely shine when given an opportunity to learn with their hands, work with an animal, solve a real-world problem, or discover something they are genuinely passionate about.

Supporting Kids as They Discover Their Gifts 🌻

My Learning Farm was built around the belief that children are so much more than their academic struggles. Every young person has strengths, talents, interests, and gifts waiting to be discovered.

For some kids, that place is the classroom. For another, it might be the barn, an arena, a show ring, a garden, a workshop, or a livestock pen.

That is one of the reasons supporting youth agriculture is so important to me. When we invest in programs like High School Rodeo District 3, the Gold Country Fair, 4-H, FFA, and other youth agricultural opportunities, we aren't simply supporting an event. We are creating places for young people to develop skills, confidence, friendships, leadership, responsibility, and a sense of purpose.

Investing in Our Community's Future

I love watching young people work toward something that matters to them. I love seeing them put in hours of practice that nobody else sees and then step into the arena or show ring. I love watching them care for their animals, help younger kids, encourage a competitor, learn from disappointment, celebrate a win, and come back ready to try again.

Those experiences are helping shape the adults they will become.

My Learning Farm's investment in youth agriculture is an extension of everything we believe about education: learning happens everywhere. It happens at a desk, but it also happens in barns, arenas, gardens, fairgrounds, pastures, and pens.

When we invest in young people, we invest in the future of our community.

So My Learning Farm will continue cheering from the sidelines, sponsoring youth opportunities, supporting our local fairs and agricultural programs, and celebrating kids who are willing to get their boots dirty and work toward something they love.

Because sometimes the very best way to help a child grow is simply to give them good soil, strong roots, a little sunshine, and the opportunity to discover just how far they can go. 🌱❤️
