What Structured Literacy Really Means

Structured literacy is not a singular program — it’s an evidence-based approach to teaching reading. Skills are taught explicitly, sequentially, and clearly.

Structured literacy teaches the over 374 phonics rules within the English language, syllable types and patterns, vowel sounds and 7 language-families also adopted into our lexicon (vocabulary).

This approach is especially effective for children with dyslexia because it removes guessing and builds true understanding.

At My Learning Farm, structured literacy is paired with warmth, encouragement, individualized pacing and of course of furry farm friends, too!
